NETWORKED CITY OF OPEN EXCHANGE
The competition called for a new vision for the city of Kyoto for the new millennium both at the local and reginal scale. Te strategy is one of the regional sectional sustainable urbanism which blends urban public activity surface, built prgrams mass, and landscape systems into a coexistence of stratifed suraces. The sectional strategy creates a sustainable city allowing for maximum flexibilty. High and low density areas were interweaves with green zones to allow for a park like environment while allowing natural light, wind, and nature to be an integral part of all residential areas thus creagint the "Ecological City" with a smooth running transportation system. These new regional networks enable new regional and urban spatial mixing, modulated densities, and program intensities. The goal is to organize all variables as open systems that diverge, interact, and form a coherent organizational mesh.
