The main issues combatting the site were ones of privacy both on the one side by neighbors and the other by the adjacencies to the main house. In response to various degrees privacy needs, three distinct types of transparencies were adhered to in this project. These included complete opacity, translucency, and total transparency. When analyzing the site conditions and site lines, these degrees of transparency were strategically placed on the construct of the guest house. The materials included C channel glass panels, concrete and glass curtain wall. Formally, the house banks all services on the area needing most privacy, leaving the translucency on the side of the existing house, while totally transparency was left for views of the ocean and beyond.
